Are you looking for the perfect theatre summer camp for your child? Look no farther than our theatre day camp MUSICAL MADNESS! This program for students ages 8-12 produces a full musical in just ONE WEEK! That’s right…all of the songs, dances, sets, costumes, props, and Shine fun that you’ve come to love all packed into one week of musical theatre madness! Our 2025 show will be Shrek the musical Jr.!

FIVE REHEARSALS

Monday, July 7 - Friday, July 11

Who: 6-7 year olds
When: 9am-1pm Monday-Wednesday at Shine
Thursday and Friday at The Courtyard

Who: 8-12 year olds
When: 9am-4pm at The Courtyard

TWO PERFORMANCES

Saturday, July 12 and Sunday, July 13 at 2:30 pm

Students ages 8-12 will be called in to pick up their script and all students will be called in for a costume fitting this spring.

FAQS

This show is different than other shows at Shine: anyone who registers for Musical Madness is guaranteed a role in the show and is not required to audition. Those who would like to be considered for a principal role will be asked to audition via video.

Last day to enroll is May 27th

Audition videos are due on May 30th

To audition, email a google drive folder to info@shineplano.com. Include two videos:

  1. Click here to access a list of audition sides (then click “Audition Central”). Choose a character to read for and have an off-camera helper read for the other characters in the scene.

  2. Sing 16-32 bars of music from a musical. You must sing with piano accompaniment; no singing a capella, please. Please do not sing a song from Shrek the Musical Jr.

Be sure to record your videos in a quiet place with a neutral background. Reduce the light behind you and increase the light in front of you. Your camera should be a static wide shot.

This year, 6-7 year olds will have their own half day camp tailored especially for their age group. In addition to performing in their own featured scene in Shrek Jr, they will have their own special theater camp experience full of fun games and activities introducing them to the creativity of theater. This camp will be held at Shine Monday through Wednesday and The Courtyard Theater Thursday and Friday.

8-12 year olds will meet on Monday- Friday at the Courtyard Theater.

Performances will be Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 pm.
